My company purchased this coat for all employees (with a logo) back in maybe 2005. It's the first jacket I'd reach for in the closet since then. The zipper finally failed after 17 years. Based it's quality, style, durability, and comfort, I purchased a new one, not quite exactly the same. Bright red one, received a week ago. A few changes were made that I liked. Adjustable waist band and different pocket locations and it may be a bit lighter, but I see the quality is still there. A handsome looking coat when I put it on. Just hoping that The Port Authority hasn't changed there standards. Time will tell.

I was replacing a very similar jacket for my husband that he was given about 7-8 years ago. This one looked just like it. But the fabric is very noisy when he moves. Everything else is great. I will be returning it.

I had a wonderful jacket I was given by my employer in 2004. It was a navy blue Port Authority jacket after 21 years, the zipper was fraying & the coat had burn holes from when I was burning brush. I found the same Challenger jacket by searching Port Authority & was able to purchase it through Apparel. com. I ordered it & had it within a week. I love it because it has a lining that (for whatever reason) keeps me warm in super cold temps (adding a layer) & I can still ride my bike wearing it when the temps are moderate 45-50 degrees & I don't get overly heated. I have not yet washed this jacket, but the other one never shrank.
